HACC Again Designated Military Friendly® School
This news release was updated on March 26, 2021.

HARRISBURG, Pa. –
Jose Velez, an alum of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, and a retired Army infantryman who served in Afghanistan and Iraq, found “HACC is a wonderful place to build yourself from the ground up in a judgment free zone.”

The services and supports offered to Velez and other HACC military and veteran students and their families has earned the College the designation as a 2021-22
Military Friendly® School for the third consecutive year.

Among the benefits offered to HACC military and veteran students is
priority registration, allowing them to register for classes before continuing and future HACC students. Military and veteran priority registration for summer and fall 2021 classes begins in April. Summer semesters begin on May 24, June 21 and July 5, 2021. The fall semester begins on Aug. 30.

HACC is proud to have the
second largest active military and veteran population among public colleges and universities in Pennsylvania. It is the only college in Pennsylvania chosen to participate in VetSuccess on Campus, a federal program aimed at easing the transition to academic life for military veterans and their families.

The Military Friendly® Schools
list is created each year using public data sources for more than 8,800 schools nationwide, including input from student veterans and responses to a survey from participating institutions, according to VIQTORY, a military marketing company that connects the military community to civilian opportunities.

Final ratings were determined by combining the institution’s survey scores with the assessment of the institution’s ability to meet thresholds for student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence (degree advancement or transfer) and loan default rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans, the company said.
