HACC President to Bike Through Central Pennsylvania for Students
HARRISBURG, Pa. - John J. “Ski” Sygielski, MBA, Ed.D., president and CEO of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, truly cares about HACC students.

Starting June 21, 2021, Sygielski, an avid bicyclist, will hop on his bike and begin visiting all 65 of the public high schools throughout HACC’s 11-county service region. The purposes of this more than 650-mile bike ride are to raise $6,500 to benefit HACC students through HACC’s Fund for Excellence for CARE (Consultation, Advocacy, Referrals, and Empowerment) and show gratitude for HACC’s high school partners.

HACC’s CARE Center is a single stop where students can go for assistance with nonacademic challenges, including child care, food insecurity, health care and housing.

Sygielski said, “HACC students inspire me every day, and I know their journeys are not always easy. By visiting high schools throughout our service region, I hope to continue encouraging individuals to start and complete their HACC education, while raising funds to support them along their HACC journey.”

Sygielski plans to visit 65 high schools within a six-week timeframe. He will use vacation time for this event and personally pay for all trip expenses. Follow his trek across Central Pennsylvania on social media using #Biking4HACC.

HACC Spring and Summer 2021 Classes Celebrated Virtually
HARRISBURG, Pa. – On May 13, 2021, HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, virtually celebrated the achievements of 1,077 spring 2021 graduating students, as well as 257 summer 2021 graduating students.

The virtual celebration, broadcasted on HACC’s YouTube channel, included brief remarks from HACC employees, a graduating student and alumni; images of graduating students; and well-wishes from friends and family.

HACC President and CEO John J. “Ski” Sygielski, MBA, Ed.D., said, “Despite the fact that the global pandemic restricted us from celebrating in person, the accomplishments of our graduating students are admirable. Many of their lives were completely upended by the pandemic, and they thrived and conquered the various challenges and obstacles that were placed in front of them. We will continue to celebrate them and their achievements for many months to come.”

The HACC Foundation surprised attendees and provided 10 $1,000 tuition giveaways to graduating students to continue taking classes at HACC.

Sygielski added, “Commencement continues to be one of my favorite days of the year. In these moments, we get to celebrate the achievements of individuals who may be the first in their family to graduate, as well as those who may be completing their associate degree to accompany a previously earned bachelor’s degree, and every HACC student in between.”

Full lists of spring graduates and summer graduates are available, as well as photos of HACC’s graduates. Interested individuals can view the full ceremony on HACC’s YouTube channel.
