HACC Honors Students Can Now Transfer to F&M

June 1, 2022
HARRISBURG and LANCASTER, Pa. – Starting in fall 2022, honors students who have completed at least one year at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, can transfer to Franklin & Marshall College under an articulation agreement the two institutions signed May 31.

The dual-admission partnership creates two pathways to pursue a bachelor’s degree from F&M for HACC honors students who have completed courses that match F&M’s academic standards.

HACC honors students who transfer to F&M are guaranteed full transfer of their courses. F&M also will meet the full institutionally determined financial need during their enrollment. In addition, transferring HACC students will be invited to attend a special campus visit for access to F&M resources and advising activities.

The agreement, the first of its kind between the two institutions, allows F&M to expand enrollment opportunities to students in Central Pennsylvania and for HACC to provide additional pathways for its students who wish to pursue a bachelor’s degree.

“HACC is pleased to partner with F&M, a selective and highly regarded college in our service region where HACC honor students will experience a challenging and robust education in the liberal arts tradition, preparing them for careers in business and medicine, for example,” said HACC President John J. “Ski” Sygielski, MBA, Ed.D.

F&M President Barbara Altmann, MA, Ph.D., attended the signing ceremony to welcome HACC honors students as they consider enrolling for F&M’s academic and residential experience.

“We want to be part of Pennsylvania’s post-secondary education network and this agreement with HACC is an excellent starting point,” Altmann said.

“Through this agreement with HACC, F&M is able to reach more students in the region, which is part of the College’s mission,” said Vice President for Enrollment Management Jimmie Foster Jr., MS.

F&M graduated 38 students from Lancaster County this year and currently has 564 students from Pennsylvania enrolled.
