HACC, Lebanon High School Partner to Help Meet Demand for Phlebotomy Technicians
LEBANON, Pa. – Job seekers interested in healthcare can start their career and help fill staffing shortages in Lebanon County by enrolling in HACC’s Phlebotomy Technician Certificate Program.

HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, and Lebanon High School have partnered to offer the short-term certificate program to recent high school graduates and members of the Lebanon community at HACC’s Lebanon Campus. The next class starts on July 18 and ends on Nov. 3, 2022.

Earning a credential as a phlebotomist, a high-demand healthcare support occupation, can provide family-sustaining wages and benefits for those who want to quickly enter the workforce.

HACC’s program provides classroom education and real-life experience with job readiness skills training that prepare graduates to be front-runner candidates for open positions in the county’s healthcare systems and independent labs.

As part of the program, students complete a two-week clinical rotation at a variety of healthcare settings that include inpatient hospital, outpatient settings, draw sites and clinics. At the completion of the program, successful graduates sit for the National Health Career Association (NHA) Phlebotomy Technician certification examination.

Funding may be available for eligible Lebanon County residents. For more information about funding or the program, please email jafoster@hacc.edu or call 717-221-1354.

HACC Nationally Recognized as Among ‘Most Promising Places to Work’
HARRISBURG, Pa. – HACC’s continuing efforts to embrace diversity, inclusion and belonging have earned the College national recognition as among the 24 most promising places to work in community and technical colleges in 2022.

“HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, embraces this recognition as confirmation of our ongoing commitment to create an atmosphere of diversity, inclusion and belonging that affirms, celebrates and supports all members of our HACC community. We are honored to have been named among Diverse: Issues in Higher Education and NISOD’s most promising places to work in community colleges not only in 2022, but also in 2020, 2019 and 2018,” said HACC President and CEO John J. “Ski” Sygielski, MBA, Ed.D.

The award is presented annually by “Diverse: Issues in Higher Education” and the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) to recognize “exceptional commitments to diversity (including race/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, class, veterans, and thought) through best-in-class student and staff recruitment and retention practices, inclusive learning and working environments, and meaningful community service and engagement opportunities.”

The 2022 recipients were recognized during NISOD’s annual International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence, May 28-31, in Austin, Texas.

The research team used a web-based survey with a focus on workplace diversity, staffing practices and work environment to determine the list. The findings were published in the May 26, 2022, edition of the magazine.
