HARRISBURG, Pa. – HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College, was recently awarded a $60,000 grant through Dauphin County’s Opioid Remediation Grant Program. The funds will be used to support tuition costs for 40 Dauphin County residents who enroll in the College’s Certified Recovery Specialist/Certified Family Recovery Specialist certificate program, as well as 60 individuals pursuing continuing education and re-certification.
According to national data from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, in 2025, 16.3% of people aged 12 or older (47.2 million people) needed substance use treatment in the past year.
HACC’s Certified Recovery Specialist/Certified Family Recovery Specialist Program provides students with the knowledge and skills to achieve a fulfilling career helping others overcome addiction. Individuals who complete the program are prepared to sit for a certification exam and work in a treatment center or outpatient setting.
