HARRISBURG, Pa. - HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, was recently awarded a federal Title III Part A Strengthening Institutions Program (SIP) grant in the amount of $2,248,824 that will have long-term impacts for HACC students, especially those who are low-income and underserved.

Over the next five years, the grant will be used to further the College’s 2022-25 Strategic Plan and its work with Achieving the Dream (ATD) to support HACC students in several areas:

  • Developing and implementing a first-year experience program
  • Creating academic and workforce development pathways
  • Offering more holistic academic advising
  • Cultivating data literacy for informed decision making across the College

One hundred percent of these initiatives will be funded through the federal grant.

John J. “Ski” Sygielski, MBA, Ed.D., HACC’s president and CEO, said, “As a result of this funding, HACC employees will have increased capacity and resources necessary to enhance the way we change lives, destinies and family trees among our diverse community of learners through enhanced transformational educational opportunities. This funding will help us continue to play a significant role in eliminating barriers that impede access to student success and achievement while preparing them for good-paying jobs.”

HACC joined the ATD Network in 2022 as part of its ongoing commitment to advancing student equity, access and student success.
