YOUR Favorite Community College is 60!
HARRISBURG, Pa. – In 1964, HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, opened its doors on Front Street in Harrisburg to approximately 430 students in 16 programs, making it the first community college chartered in Pennsylvania.
Sixty years later, HACC is the largest community college in Pennsylvania and serves 20,000 students annually in more than 100 programs at its five campuses and beyond.
A success story this big deserves to be celebrated, and you're invited. On April 12, 2024, the oldest community college in Pennsylvania will host a Diamond Anniversary Gala to celebrate 60 years of HACC excellence and raise funds for scholarships for HACC students.
John J. “Ski” Sygielski, MBA, Ed.D., president and CEO of HACC, said, “Six decades of academic brilliance, community empowerment and countless student success stories calls for a celebration. There is nothing better than celebrating HACC and raising money to support scholarship funds for HACC students.”
Linnie S. Carter, Ph.D., APR, HACC’s vice president of college advancement and executive director of the HACC Foundation, added, “The HACC Foundation awards thousands of dollars in scholarships to HACC students every year. Many students have said they would not be able to continue their education without these funds. This event will bring together HACC supporters and ensure that students are able to continue reaching their professional and personal goals.”
