HACC Alumnus Contributed Six-Figure Gift to Provide Full-Ride Scholarships

• An anonymous alumnus contributed a generous six-figure gift to fund full-ride scholarships for at least 10 HACC students.
• The life-changing HACC Academic and Workforce Development Full-Ride Scholarships will cover all HACC-related expenses - including tuition, books and fees - to allow students to focus on completing their degree, certificate or diploma.

 

Students Accessed Vital Equipment

• HACC’s technology loan program has helped over 500 students attend classes remotely.
• Without this assistance, students may not have been able to complete their studies.
• During this time period, HACC processed 246 new requests and 316 extension requests. These requests resulted in the distribution of 113 laptops, 31 desktop computers, 14 tablets, 59 hotspots and 29 items such as headphones and webcams.

 

HACC Hosted Popular Registration Rally

• In April 2023, HACC hosted a registration rally at all five campuses. The goal of the event was to encourage current HACC students to register for their summer and fall HACC courses early and not wait until the last minute.
• We were pleased to see that both priority registration and early registration participation increased compared to the previous year among students in credit programs.

Academic Advising Focused on Underserved Students

• During a dedicated “Advising Ed Plan Blitz” in October 2022, advisors worked to develop educational plans for students, paying special attention to students who identified as African American, Black, Hispanic or Latino.
• As a result, 91.45% of these students of color had an educational plan in place for at least the spring 2023 semester.

 

Between July 1, 2022-June 30, 2023, the HACC Foundation distributed

• $595,827.40 in scholarship funding to students
• $34,769.55 in emergency assistance funding to students
• $208,834.70 in tuition giveaway funding to students
  
   

Career Closet Offers Clothing and Confidence

• HACC’s Career Closet provides students free, gently used clothing for interviews, career fairs and other professional events.
• The objective of this program is to help relieve the stress of affording professional clothing and allows students to focus on forming positive first impressions.
• Students who utilize career development services are invited to visit the Career Closet the following semester to select professional attire.

Employees Gained Convenient, Professional Print Shop

• HACC established an in-house print shop in January 2023 to provide printing services for employees.
• The print shop processed more than 600 requests in its first six months of operations.
   

Health Insurance Costs Remain Stable

• In January 2022, HACC entered a three-year agreement with Capital Blue Cross for health insurance coverage.
• The College agreed to absorb a rate increase that was applied for plan year 2023 in full, resulting in no cost increase for employees for the fourth year in a row.

Focus on Employee Wellness

• HACC initiated a Suicide Prevention Program, which included a collegewide presentation about suicide awareness and prevention; collaboration with an independent agency to provide a grief relief session; and training new employees once a month during New Employee Orientation.
• HACC employees established a Parent Wellness Group to provide programming that enhances the overall well-being of parents in the College community. The goal is to promote a healthier, safer and more productive environment.

HACC Improved High School Partnerships

• HACC enhanced its systems, programs and pathways to provide even stronger support to our high school partners in the region.
• During the 2022-23 year, HACC’s high school partnerships team:
  • Engaged with 135 career and technical education (CTE) stakeholders
  • Developed 19 new articulation agreements
  • Awarded 40 tuition giveaways to College in the High School students
  • Coordinated nine monthly lunch and learn sessions
     

Lancaster Campus Stream Bank Project Demonstrates Investment in Sustainability

• HACC embarked on a project with East Lampeter Township and Sewer Authority to restore and improve the Lancaster Campus stream bank. The stream is a tributary of the Conestoga River, which eventually drains into the Chesapeake Bay.
• The restoration of the stream bank will increase water flow, improve the natural floodplain to prevent flooding and avoid the potential of 248,745 pounds of sediment runoff into the adjacent sewer line.
• Additionally, the project will allow for more native plant growth as well as a regenerated habitat for in-stream and adjacent wildlife.
   

Overhaul of Infrastructure to Reap $15 Million in Energy Savings

• Funding for the estimated $12.6 million project comes from a Pennsylvania sustainable energy program guaranteed savings agreement with Schneider Electric and is guaranteed to produce more than $13.5 million in energy savings over the next 15 years.
• HACC will also realize a minimum of $1.6 million in added savings through a solar power purchase agreement.
• The project will modernize HACC’s critical infrastructure with energy-efficient, sustainable technologies and optimize learning environments.
