The safety inspection training course informs students of the regulations, procedures and requirements concerning Pennsylvania’s safety inspection of vehicles. This course also provides the opportunity to complete the state certification exam for Pennsylvania safety inspections. This course is for cars and light trucks only. Additional categories require additional tests and fees. A valid driver’s license is required for each category of testing. $220 (Cost is subject to change).
If a student lives out-of-state, please note the following:
- They must provide their out-of-state address and driver’s license information.
- A copy of the out-of-state driver’s license must be provided to and approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) prior to testing.
- If they are a Pennsylvania resident and they still possess an out-of-state driver’s license, they must surrender their out-of-state driver’s license and obtain a Pennsylvania driver’s license.

Students’ test results will be forwarded to PARSONS, Inc. for grading. Students will then be issued their inspector certification identification card. They cannot perform emissions inspections without this card.
Inspector certification is valid for two years. Students will then be required to take a recertification course to maintain their certification.
