Meet Alexander: Virtual Learning Student and Working Dad

“After working in the IT industry as a systems engineer for many years, it became apparent that having a degree was becoming more important to rise in the industry.”

Alexander Liffick is like many students who come to HACC – he has a busy personal and work life that has to be balanced with his academic life. “I believe that getting as far as I have with the degree, while being a working, single father has been very fulfilling,” he said.

The Computer Information Security Program at HACC was a match for Alexander based on his work history and past experience. He hopes to complete the associate degree next year and transfer to a four-year school to get his bachelor’s degree.

Most of Alexander’s courses are available online, which provides the flexibility he needs.

One thing he wants future students to know: “There are program advisers that will help you choose the right courses and schedule to meet your needs.”

He continued, “My adviser was the most inspiring HACC employee that I’ve worked with.”
