A 1098-T Form, Tuition Statement, reports your tuition and fees for a reportable transaction. This form may help you determine if you can get education deductions/credits for your taxes. What amounts appear in Box 1?
The amounts in Box 1 includes the Amounts Paid from All Sources during the calendar year up to the amount of Qualified Tuition and Related Expenses. These amounts include cash, scholarships, grants, loans, third party payments and employee tuition benefits. Qualified Tuition and Related Expenses are tuition and fees that are required to be paid to an institution to enroll in a course. The amount reported is not reduced by scholarships and grants reported in box 5.
The Amount Reported in Box 1 is the Total Amount of Payments Received less Any Reimbursements or Refunds made during the calendar year that relate to the Payments Received for Qualified Tuition and Related Expenses during the same calendar year.

(Box 4) Adjustments Made for a Prior Year
Payments received: Reimbursements or refunds of qualified tuition and related expenses made in 2023 that related to payments received that were reported for any prior year after 2002.
Amounts billed: Any reductions in charges made for qualified tuition and related expenses made during the calendar year that related to amounts billed that were reported for any prior year after 2002.
(Box 5) Scholarships or Grants
This box contains amounts that include certificates of residency, third party payments, employee tuition benefits, scholarships and grants.
(Box 6) Adjustments to Scholarships or Grants for a Prior Year
This box contains amounts related to adjustments to scholarships and grants that were reported for any prior year after 2002.
(Box 7) Checked if any payments received for qualified tuition and related expenses reported for 2023 related to an academic period that begins in January through March of 2024.
(Box 8) Checked if at least half-time student – At HACC, s half-time student is a student enrolled for at least 6 credits for an academic period that occurred during any academic period that began in 2023.
If you did not provide HACC your Social Security Number at time of admission, please complete IRS form W-9. Submit it to your Campus Welcome Center.
HACC mails 1098-Ts by Jan. 31 for previous calendar activity. We mail the 1098-T form to your current/active address on file as of Jan. 1
You can also access your 1098-T online on https://my.hacc.edu The electronic version of your 1098-T Tuition Statement will be made available on myHACC by mid-January.
HACC will not issue a 1098-T if any of the following conditions are met:
