A Community Health Worker (CHW) is a trusted individual who contributes to improved health outcomes in the community. CHWs serve the communities in which they reside or communities with which they may share ethnicity, language, socioeconomic status, or life experiences. The term “community health worker,” includes but is not limited to other titles such as outreach worker, patient navigator and promotores de salud.
HACC is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
What is the goal of HACC's CHW program?

How long are classes? When are they held?
CHW is a 12-week course offered virtually using bi-weekly Zoom and remote (online) lecture, group work, discussion, written assignments, and quizzes. Classes begin every Spring and Fall. Register Now!

The cost is $1295 (plus a book - around $94 - information provided upon registration). Federal Student AId (FAFSA) does not apply, but students may apply for student loans - www.salliemae.com.

About the Instructor
Lamont J. Tubbs MPP, BS, C-CHW is a Certified Community Health Worker with Cincinnati Children's Hospital in the social services division of general pediatrics.
As a CHW Lamont participates as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and assists with the coordination of care including medical and social service needs and goals for mostly marginalized families in low-income communities. Lamont passionately believes that his work is truly a service. In addition to his community health work, Lamont is a 9 year veteran of the US Navy where he served as Hospital Corpsman, and served 7 years a firefighter/paramedic for Colerain Township in the Greater Cincinnati region.
