Many HACC students plan to transfer college credits to a four-year college or university. HACC’s high-quality programs transfer to more than 60 four-year schools. In many cases, HACC graduates receive additional perks, such as scholarships, from the four-year school when they transfer!
HACC has highly transferable courses. The Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools accredits HACC courses. They are the standard accrediting organization for community and four-year colleges.
To successfully transfer credits, you will need to carefully select and plan your HACC courses. For the most efficient transfer, you should select your transfer college before selecting courses.
You will need to choose a transfer curriculum. You will also need to work with your advisor. Working together using HACC's extensive transfer information, you will select required transfer courses.
Transfer information includes transfer checksheets, comprehensive transfer notebooks, course equivalencies, transfer agreements, college directories and catalogs.
Some students prefer to stay at HACC for the maximum amount of credits. They do this for cost reasons, proximity, flexibility of class availability or simply personal preference.
Others may prefer to transfer as soon as they can be accepted by another institution.
There are a few majors, such as a Music major, that require you to transfer sooner. This ensures you have the full range of choices so you can complete your degree efficiently.
HACC may accept credits for coursework you completed at other institutions. These may not necessarily be accepted by the college to which you are transferring.
When a student applies for transfer, official transcripts will need to be sent from each school previously attended. HACC decisions to transfer credits are HACC's alone. Each receiving institution makes independent decisions based upon their criteria for awarding transfer credits.
