What is a parallel pathway?
A parallel pathway is a second program of study that students identify when they begin taking classes at HACC. Having a parallel pathway allows students to identify options if they want or need to change their major. A parallel pathway helps students explore opportunities within their program of study and understand their career options.
Why should I create a parallel pathway?
- About 28% of associate-degree-seeking students change their major.*
- Selective criteria such as minimum grade point averages or pre-entry exams may prevent you from continuing in your chosen major.
- You will be prepared to switch majors without lost credit, delays and panic.
- Good decision-making includes exploring alternative options.
