This traditional (face-to-face) program is designed to develop sensitivity and competence in the basic tasks required to care for patients or residents in a variety of healthcare facilities. Its purpose is to provide the student with a basic level of knowledge and skills needed to care for patients, residents, or clients as set forth by the profession of nursing and regulated by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

HACC offers on-site training at numerous locations throughout Pennsylvania.
The 120- hour program includes: 48.75 hours of theory, 32.75 hours of lab, and 38.5 hours of clinical experience. Students successfully completing this program will received an accredited certificate from HACC and will eligible to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) exam administered by Credentia to enroll in the Nurse Aide Registry for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. There is an additional cost of $135 (subject to change) to take the registry exam; this fee is not included in your tuition.
Students must be 16 years old or older before the first day of class. HACC does not require it, but many facilities require employees to be 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.
Students must be a resident of PA for the last two consecutive years of Pennsylvania or obtain a Federal Bureau Investigation Report (FBI) through the Department of Education.
This program is taught in English with English textbooks and workbooks. Students must be able to speak, write, and understand English fluently. Please review the Nurse Aide Essential Qualifications to make sure you are able to perform them.
All individuals who apply for admission to the Nurse Aide Program must be able to perform specific essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Upon successful completion, you will be prepared to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) exam (administered by Pearson Vue) You must be at least 16 to take this exam.

The Nurse Aide Training Program is approved by the PA Department of Education.
If you have a documented Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or any special accommodations supported by documentation, we request that you contact HACC’s Student Access Services at 717-780-2614 or by choosing the appropriate SAS Campus Coordinator at contact us. You need to contact their office well in advance of the class start date in order for them to complete the assessment of accommodations. (Please be aware that accommodations for the State Competency Exam taken after the course is completed must be applied for at least one (1) month in advance of taking the state test.) Click on the link for test accommodations and please be aware current (1-5years) documentation of a disability is necessary when requesting accommodations and is outlined in detail at the above website.
If you are employed by a skilled nursing care facility (one that accepts residents on Medicare/Medicaid) within 12 months of completing the Nurse Aide Training Program and have paid for training/testing yourself, you are eligible for reimbursement of those funds.
